How to Get a Business Visa for China
Apply for a Chinese M visa through a consulate or visa center with an invitation letter from a Chinese company, completed application form, passport photos, and supporting documents. Processing takes 4-10 business days and costs $140-200 depending on your nationality and processing speed.
- Get an invitation letter from your Chinese business contact. Request a formal invitation letter from the Chinese company you're visiting. The letter must include your full name as it appears on your passport, passport number, purpose and duration of visit, places to be visited, relationship between you and the inviting company, and who bears the costs. The letter should be on company letterhead with official stamp and signature from an authorized person.
- Complete the visa application form. Fill out Form V.2013 online at the Chinese embassy or consulate website for your area. Print the completed form and sign it. The form asks for detailed travel dates, accommodation information, and employment history. Be precise with dates and consistent with your invitation letter.
- Gather required documents. Collect your original passport (valid for at least 6 months with 2 blank pages), one recent 2x2 inch color photo with white background, copy of your flight itinerary or booking confirmation, invitation letter from Chinese company, business registration certificate of the inviting company, and proof of your employment (business license if self-employed, or employment letter if working for someone else).
- Submit application and pay fees. Visit the Chinese consulate, visa application center, or authorized agency in person during business hours. Submit all documents and pay the visa fee in cash or certified check (credit cards not always accepted). Get your receipt with pickup date. Some locations offer express service for additional fees.
- Collect your visa. Return on the specified date with your receipt to collect your passport and visa. Check immediately that all information is correct including dates, number of entries, and spelling of your name. Standard processing is 4-10 business days, express is 2-3 business days for extra cost.
