Navigating Your First Cruise Port Arrival
Arrive at the terminal at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time to clear security and check-in without stress. Have your boarding pass, passport, and cruise luggage tags printed and ready in your hand, not buried in your suitcase.
- Prepare your documentation. Print your boarding pass, luggage tags, and cruise contract. Keep these in a dedicated 'check-in folder' rather than your checked bags.
- Drop your large luggage. Follow the signs for 'Luggage Drop-off' before entering the main terminal building. Hand your bags to the porters—tip them $2 per bag—and ensure your official cruise luggage tags are securely attached to every item.
- Clear security and check-in. Join the line for security screening. Once inside, follow the queue to the check-in desk. Have your passport and digital boarding pass open on your phone or printed out for the agent to scan.
- Board the ship. Follow the signage toward the gangway. You will scan your boarding pass one last time and likely have a security photo taken. Walk up the gangway and head straight to your muster station or buffet.
