How to Apply for an Indian Visa from Bangkok
Apply for an Indian visa in Bangkok through the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) on Sathorn Road. Book an appointment online, submit documents including passport and photos, pay the fee (1,500-4,500 THB depending on visa type), and collect your passport in 3-5 working days.
- Check visa requirements and choose type. Most travelers need a tourist visa (valid 60 days, multiple entry). Business visas require company letters. Check the Indian embassy website for your nationality's specific requirements.
- Book appointment online. Visit the IVAC website and book your appointment slot. Morning slots (9-11 AM) are less crowded. You cannot apply without a pre-booked appointment.
- Prepare required documents. Bring original passport (valid 6+ months, 2+ blank pages), completed application form, 2 passport photos (5x5cm, white background), confirmed flight booking, hotel booking, and bank statement showing sufficient funds.
- Visit IVAC office. Go to 12th floor, Abdulrahim Place, 990 Rama IV Road, Silom. Take BTS to Sala Daeng or MRT to Silom. Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Security is strict - no phones or bags allowed inside.
- Submit application and pay. Submit documents at the counter, pay visa fee in cash (Thai Baht only), and receive your collection receipt. Tourist visa costs 1,500 THB for most nationalities.
- Collect your passport. Return after 3-5 working days with your receipt. Collection hours are 3-4 PM. Your visa will be stamped in your passport.
- Can I apply for an Indian visa without an appointment?
- No. The IVAC only accepts applications with pre-booked appointments. Walk-ins are turned away.
- What if my passport photos are the wrong size?
- There's a photo shop on the 11th floor of the same building that can take proper visa photos for around 200 THB.
- Can someone else collect my passport for me?
- No. You must collect your passport personally with your original receipt and identification.
- What happens if my visa application is rejected?
- Visa fees are non-refundable even if rejected. You'll receive your passport back with a rejection letter explaining the reason.
