Getting a Brazilian Business Visa
Most business travelers from the U.S., Canada, and Australia do not need a visa for short-term trips, but you must confirm your specific nationality on the Visto Brasileiro portal. If your business activities require a formal visa, you must apply online through the E-consular system and attend an in-person appointment at your designated consulate.
- Verify your visa requirement. Go to the official Visto Brasileiro portal. Input your nationality and purpose of visit to see if you qualify for the visa exemption or require a VITEM II (business visa).
- Gather your corporate documentation. You need a formal letter from your company in your home country detailing your business purpose, and a letter of invitation from the Brazilian company you are visiting. Both must be printed on company letterhead.
- Complete the online application. Fill out the RER (Visa Application Form) on the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. Upload a scan of your passport, a passport-sized photo, and your signed business letters.
- Pay the processing fee. Pay the non-refundable fee online. Expect to pay between $80 and $180 USD depending on your citizenship and the type of visa.
- Attend the consulate appointment. Once the online system clears your documents, schedule an in-person visit to your regional consulate. Bring your original passport and all physical copies of the uploaded documents.
